Just got in the cab to head for the airport. Heading back to Moscow for 8 weeks without my wife and child. Don't know how soldiers go on tours of a year or more without their family. Feel like my gut was getting ripped out when saying our goodbyes.
Hoping this is the only time I'll have to go without them. Once my wife gets her green card, we'll be able to go back and forth together, hopefully starting with my next trip in late October.
Anyone else with experience leaving loved ones behind for travel? Any advice? Will talk via FaceTime everyday, and extremely thankful that technology will help us stay in better contact.
