just heard this story and sorry if already been mentioned. back drop is, Young was back up to joe montana and he was getting paid starting QB money (4mm a year) but wouldn't cash the checks. Brent Jones his roommate opened a his drawer one morning and found a bunch of uncashed pay checks. The owner called Steve and said why aren't u cashing the checks we need to balance our account. Young basically said he didn't cash them because he felt like he didn't earn the money riding the bench and not playing. $4mm back in 1989!!!! wow.
