OT: SoCal Fort Brethren....Huntington or Newport Beach?

First time in SoCal in over 20 years, looking to spend a day at the beach with my wife and kids....don't need restaurants and shops just sand and the ocean. Both beaches have been recommended but probably only have time for one of them.
