OT scientists respond, black balls

I'm not sure why, but that article and method was disappointing. And good question about the white v. black, and the only thing I can think of is that the black balls are less hospitable to birds due to the increased heat, so perhaps they are likely to stay away more than if they'd placed white ones on the water. Otherwise, I've got nothing.

I understand the basic science but the color thing has me wondering. It's counterintuitive. But mines have been using these balls forever to limit evaporation and for a reservoir it's a no lose proposition other then the cost which will be easily recouped if it actually works.
