I've got a rotator cuff tear in my "supraspinatus through mid infraspinatus footprint with degenerative
tearing of the superficial and deep margins over an area measuring approximately 20 mm
anteroposterior x 12 mm" ...that from the MRI report.
I've also got a Labrum tear. I've been to 3 specialists (ortho surgeons) and 2 of the 3 recommend surgery soon, although non-emergent. The third said, take this AC shot (which helped a ton) and rehab it for a few months and see where you are at..
I'm a pretty active person - ski, tennis, biking, mtn biking, ski, etc.
My question is - is there any clinical evidence that says I will have a better outcome if I have surgery sooner rather than later? Like if I wait till the fall, will my outcome be worse? I can do a lot of stuff - including bike, hike, yard work, etc. I can't play tennis or throw a ball or lift weights though. However, doing my day job on PC, travel, etc it's pretty much a minor issue.
I'm not talking about waiting a couple years, but just 'till fall, because so many have told me the recovery from this will be 6-8 months if not longer for full recovery.
I'm 51 years old, 6 foot and 175 lbs.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
