As we all know, The Fort is a great place/community to come to looking for advice/help, so today is my turn to reach out. So here goes:

My wife has been teaching in charter or private schools at the elementary level for almost a decade now. Year after year she's put in effort to get into the public school system, so far with no luck.

I've recently done some research and the pay differential comes to somewhere around $20,000/year, so we're leaving a TON of money on the table.

The issue is the sheer volume of applicants and trying to get in even for an interview. The average job opening will have something like 300+ applicants. So we obviously need to start networking if she's eventually going to move to the public school system.

We currently live in Farmington Hills, so she'd be open to any school system within about a 40 minute commute (which would include Ann Arbor - which would be her dream district). She's already under contract to go back to her private school for this coming school year (and we have incentive for her to do so), so I'd be looking for something starting fall of '18.

She has an up to date resume, multiple letters of reference, a master's degree in special education from EMU, etc. In other words, even though I'm partial because she's my wife, I also know she's a well qualified candidate and I'm willing to stake my name on it (a responsibility I don't take lightly).

Are any Fort members connected in the public school system that could help us start cultivating a relationship/transition for her in the next 2-3 years?

If so, please reach out as I'd love to connect.
