My wife last Friday was hit in the rear on the highway here in Georgia. The at faults insurance is Geico. I have a 2014 Honda Pilot EXL with 2 accidents already on it (our fault), this 3rd one was much bigger but it is driveable. He is making a case right now that it won't be totaled and that they will make the repairs and then pay us $1,500 at the most in diminished value. The adjuster is saying they are coming up with a value of $17,000! That is ridiculous. Kelly Blue Book, or a general search like Auto Trader doesn't come up with anything near that much. I haven't gotten a lawyer yet but what am I dealing with here? Can I argue for them to total it? How much more should I be getting in diminished value? Any experiences out there? I know their main goal is to give us the least amount as possible with in the average range of an accident.
