I hope this one is less controversial than my last new thread.
I've hired a really good funk band for my upcoming birthday party. They'll do a bunch of Motown, Stax Volt, etc from their catalog. The strength of the band is that genre (they have a really, really good sax player), but we also get to choose three songs from outside their set list. The smart play is probably to choose more funk to play to their strength, but we'd also like a little variety in the evening - maybe some rock n roll that either features sax or could feature sax (say, to replace a harmonica).
For example, J. Geils Band's "House Party"or The Romantics' "What I Like About You" feature harmonica solos that could be carried on sax. Similarly, "And We Danced" by The Hooters has a solo on something that feels sax friendly. Springsteen is another way to go.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
