Hello All,

Looking for some help/advice from anyone in the know. Sorry for the long post. TIA!

Background info: I leased a 2016 Range Rover TD6 (Diesel) in June of 2016 for a 36 month term.

I was driving to Ann Arbor in Early/Mid-December 2017 (I had the vehicle in my possession for about 18 months) when all of a sudden, after exiting on Ford Road, the vehicle started rumbling and stalled. I pulled over, had to call roadside assistance, and was towed back to the dealership (Land Rover Farmington Hills). The dealership gave me a loaner vehicle, which is nice, but nowhere equivalent to the vehicle I am leasing. This was the second time I had to tow my vehicle to the dealership (the first time, there was a computer malfunction that caused the vehicle not to start because the vehicles computer believed the vehicle diesel exhaust fluid was too low). To me, having to get towed twice in 18 months was unacceptable, so I called Land Rover corporate to inquire about them buying back my lease. After waiting about a week, the service manager at the dealership called and told me that they had to replace the entire engine, and that he had never seen anything like this before. The vehicle had 22,000 miles on it. They replaced the engine and I was able to pick up my vehicle on December 28th.

That same evening, I smelled what seemed to be diesel fumes in the cabin, and the check engine light turned back on. I took the vehicle back to the dealership the next morning, and they gave me the same loaner. Since that point, I've had to take my vehicle back to the dealership on four or five (can't remember exactly now) different occasions because diesel fumes were still leaking into the cabin. Each time, my service rep called me and told me my vehicle was repaired and ready for me to pick up, and each time, within a day of driving it, it was clear that the issue wasn't fixed. Each time, I had to sign new paperwork for a loaner, and each time, I had to transfer my belongings back and forth. After the second time of having my vehicle returned to me, Land Rover corporate called and informed my they rejected my claim to buy the lease back from me. Once it became apparent that they hadn't fixed the issue, they called me again and told me they reopened my case.

The last time I dropped my car off to the service department (about 2 weeks ago), Land Rover corporate called me and told me they were sending their corporate engineer to the dealership. He called me upon arrival and told me that he identified the issue and that they were in the process of fixing it. I finally picked up vehicle today, almost exactly 3 months since the engine failed on me, and the issue seems to be fixed.

At this point (and throughout the ordeal), even if the issue is fixed, I really don't feel safe in the vehicle. The fact that they returned the vehicle to me at least 5 times, claiming that the leak into the cabin was repaired when it wasn't is amazing to me. Thankfully, I don't smoke, but if I tried to light a cigarette in the vehicle, what would have happened? What impact did inhaling those fumes have on my health? I feel like they put me and my passengers' health and safety at risk, over and over again. When I bring this up to the service department, they shrug their shoulders and say, "we did everything corporate told us to do."

Land Rover corporate told me they would reach back out to me late this week or early next week with regards to buying my lease back, but I am certain they won't. They may reimburse me for the 3 months I didn't have the vehicle, but at this point i just want out of the lease. Do I have any avenue I can pursue to get out of the lease? Or am I basically SOL if they refuse to buy the lease back?

Thanks
