A good friend at Ukiah High School let me know that her student, and a victim of the Redwood Valley Fire, passed today at age 17. The victim's 14 year old brother died at the scene of the fire. Sister had two legs amputated. Both parents are severely burned and unaware of what has happened to their family.
My client, a 24 year old diabetic, blind and amputee below right knee, died today from complications due to his disease.
I met him two weeks ago and was hopeful that he was receptive to getting help after years of self neglect and substance abuse.
I last met with him on Friday and gave him a gift card for food and clothing. Not sure what he used it for.
Last memory was of him eating sliced apples with peanut butter on a front porch of a neighboring Rez.
Shook his hand and told him I didn't mind the peanut butter shake as long as he behaved himself.
