Been discussing this with a few friends so I thought I'd bring it here.
Jordan and Lebron are locks to make the mountain. And I think its pretty tough to leave Bill Russell off of it considering that pre Jordan he was probably the GOAT.
That leaves one spot. If you're being traditional with your Mt. Rushmore decisions, you might consider someone like George Mikan since he was the original star of the NBA.
Kareem is another option given all of his accolades and longevity. And I suppose some might say that Wilt was the best "player" though he didn't probably win enough.
But in terms of most important to the league, I think it has to be Magic or Bird. The NBA was not in a great place in the late 70s and Bird and Magic helped elevate the league to a whole new level. I'm not going to take the easy way out and try to add them as a "duo" either. I'll take Magic. He had more titles and was a bigger personality. Plus, what he's done post playing career is far more impressive than Bird.
