Here is the article from the MSU student paper:

Engler was asked if he’d spoken with Attorney General-elect Dana Nessel and if he expects anything to change once she assumes oversight of the investigation into Michigan State’s handling of former doctor Larry Nassar. Engler said he has not spoken with Nessel and doesn’t expect any changes, but also said the charges filed against former MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon brought the investigation to a close.
"I should say that I presume things will change in terms of how she functions as attorney general, but in terms of Michigan State, there’s really nothing left pending because the charges brought against former President Simon conclude the Attorney General’s investigation," Engler said.
This directly conflicts what the AGs office said earlier this month about the need to hand off the investigation to the incoming AG:

"In an ideal world, we would have gotten to a point where we could call it done, but we aren't there yet," Andrea Bitely, spokeswoman for the AG's Office, said on Wednesday. "There's still information that comes forward on a regular basis about what happened at Michigan Sate.
"The intent is to work with the incoming attorney general and her transition to team to make sure that she is fully apprised of the status of the investigation."
So is Engler:
A). Spewing out hot air on a subject he doesn't really have the facts about
B). Saying this because he's heard through the Schuette-Engler-Secchia buddy system that the AG's office is not looking at anything else/has essentially shut things down
Engler also mentioned in the interview that the $10M victims assistance fund would likely never re-open since Nassar settlement payments might be paid out soon. Kind of transparent that the delay was a strategy to wiggle out of making those payments, and probably also an intentional shot meant to hurt the victims. You can still feel the resentment MSU leadership has toward the victims for putting them through this "Nassar thing".
