Thoughts on him. He’s 59, which is probably a bit older than what people want, but he seems to be a grinder with an impressive track record. Besides...I’m not sure we should go for another sexy hire.
He’s been successful at 3 small schools (IUP Division II, Elon and JMU FCS Division I). He earned his stripes as IUP was his first head coaching job.
He was a QB @ West Virginia, coached under Johnny Majors @ Pitt, and Nick Saban @ Alabama.
He was Phillip Rivers QB coach, and he recruited Russell Wilson. I believe he was also Mark Ingram’s recruiter.
I’d probably prefer our next coach to be younger but the track record is the kind of guy I’d be looking for. Besides that...59 ain’t as old as it used to be.
