Every once in awhile, there is a huge advance in science that could ultimately affect many people in significant ways. CRISPR fits the bill. The potential for affecting genetic diseases that were previously fatal or debilitating is a real possibility. There are also some ethical issues that will ultimately need to be addressed as well.
