My oldest son is a sophomore on his high school football team. Just over three weeks ago I received a call from the team trainer that he had suffered a concussion in practice.

He didn't remember the hit. And none of the coaches saw when it happened. But at some point during the practice the coaches noticed he wasn't himself and pulled him from practice.

The trainer evaluated him stating he demonstrated several symptoms.

My wife took him to the doctor and she confirmed that she also thought it was a concussion.

But for three weeks he has continued to struggle off and on with headaches, blurry vision, dizziness, nausea, seeing spots, and soreness in his neck. Plus some short term memory loss.

He can go part of a day feeling okay, then the symptoms return. My wife finally took him back to the doctor and she referred our son to the U of Iowa sports medicine clinic. They are now saying they are not sure it was a concussion.

They have ruled out meningitis. But mentioned several possibilities including a tumor. Today they performed a MRI. We are still waiting on the results.

Has anyone here experienced a concussion or know someone who has who still suffered the symptoms nearly a month later? Heard of something similar?
