love hearing these, never gets old - Greg was playing Filmore East with Edgar Winter - Edgar's opening was set without any lighting, which meant it wasn't easy to find the microphone - the crew came up with a solution - a small red light attached to the microphone, facing backwards - problem solved - except when Edgar began his set he set up in front of the red light, and started belting out a song - he was mistakenly serenading a stage hand with a lit cigarette

Also during this concert tour Joe Cocker was to perform - Lake claims he was at the side of the stage, waiting for Joe to come on - Joe had a bit of a drinking problem, and was getting sauced in his dressing room - after a considerable delay two roadies carried Joe out to the microphone - Lake says he expected disaster, but what he saw was the "normal" Joe Cocker (epileptic seizure-like movements, greatly exaggerated vocals)
