My 8 month old border collie mix, “Maize” still loves to pull on walks.
We took him to puppy training class where they recommended a prong collar which I opposed but was convinced to try.
It’s a decision I regret. While he walked well with it, after an incident where he encountered another dog and got all fired up pulling strongly on the leash he bruised his trachea. The vet was abhorred that we used one and recommended using something else.
We started using a technique called the “suitcase” with his leash which works pretty well but it’s kind of a pain in the neck setting it up.
I’ve seen many people use harnesses but from what I understand they don’t reduce pulling, actually the opposite. Kind of a sled dog effect if you will.
We are going to intermediate training in a week so will ask there but thought I’d get some recommendations from the Fort to see what you all use or do.
TIA!!
