My nephew will enroll at the University of Minnesota this Fall. One of the decisions he has to make is whether he wants to call the University's "loft" service and order a loft for his dorm-room.
OK, back in the day it was great fun to get on the outside of a six-pack of Leinie's, go to Menard's (think: low-rent Home Depot), pick out your lumber, and build the lofts yourself. Now you just buy them from the school? What kind of bullshit is this?
Also, they have "parents orientation." My parents dropped me off and that was it. But now -- in the day of the internet -- they have to orient your parents?
Ironically, one of the key points in orientation was "your kids are adults now, when they call home don't solve their problems."
Yeah, well then why don't you start with letting them build their own lofts? Sure, a few liberal arts majors might have a few mishaps. But that's how we learn, right?
