To my fellow Den Vets…
Since 1919 America has been celebrating this day to recognize all of you who served in our Nations defense. I know no greater feeling than being in your Ranks.
“To those who came before me. I owe you for cutting the trails so my pack was little lighter. To those who I served with in Combat, Thanks for covering my Six!!! And finally, those who hiked are after, I’m here if there’s anything I can do for you. This I promise you.” - Trig 40
Ok… Enough with the feel good chit chat. Buckle up, cause this ain’t for the weak!!!
If you’re a Vet, in need of help, there are literally thousands of people wanting to help. Many on this Board!!!
Please do not fall for the sea lawyer crap of how someone else tried and was turned away (even if that person was you). And never say to yourself “i don’t need it”. You never know what tomorrow brings!!!
The VA has a list longer than my right arm of what they can provide… health care, home loans, education benefits, Rehabilitation and a ton more. If you don’t know… Stinking ask (read Google it)
In the past I’ve tried Numbers / Data to get my point across. This year I’ll bore you with a story, this one from the Compensation side of the VA.
I recently helped a coworker with some home issues that her sick husband wasn’t able to do. After I was done she asked me to stay for a cup of Joe.
On her Mantle was a folded flag and an older pic. She said it was her Brother and shared his struggles to “get by” down in Tennessee.
Without fail I ask a couple questions to see if I had a chance of assisting. Sure enough, a good DD-214, never applied for benefits, to proud to ask. SOS (same old story)
While finishing my coffee, with her blessing, I provided the name of a Veteran Service Officer in his county and directions to the nearest VA that was less then 20 minutes away.
Within three months he has new glasses, Meds shipped to his front door and already receiving a disability check for Service Connected injuries, with other claims still being worked. His VA hearing aids will arrive shortly (his Sister has been funding all these Years).
This is one of many… DM me if you have any questions or better yet ask in the thread… some people may have the same one.
Semper Fi!!!
(Unfortunately I gotta throw this in. Please do not turn this into a political thread)
Oh & Go Blue!!!
