Since 2018, Oklahoma has averaged 26 4/5 star players on the defensive side of the ball (in total on the roster). Aside from Texas, this is more than every big twelve school COMBINED (including both sides of the ball). That number is fifth nationally behind Alabama, OSU, Georgia, and Clemson.
Now, I realize the big twelve hates defense, but this is astounding: in their last 33 games, Oklahoma has allowed and average of 298 passing yards, 158 rushing yards, and nearly 36 points per game. In those 33 games, they’ve played only 8 ranked teams. They’ve played 14 teams with losing records.
During the same time period, Michigan has allowed on average 141.8 passing yards, 133.5 rushing yards, and 15.8 points per game. Only four times has a team scored more than 31 points against Michigan (OSU twice and bama + Florida in bowl games).
I know we beat up on don brown here a lot for the fact he’s struggled immensely against OSU, but with very similar talent and a much easier schedule (Michigan played more regular season games against ranked teams in 2018 alone than Oklahoma has in the last 33 games) what Oklahoma is doing on defense is impossibly awful. The Alex Grinch hype train is absolutely dead. having a QB go#1 in the draft every year hides a lot of problems.
