I am going to celebrate with a few cocktails tonight. I work for a company that got bought out early last year. Prior to the buyout, you couldn't have asked for a better gig. Great comp, great Boss, great people, highly successful company.

After, moved many jobs overseas, new boss was a grade A prick, penny pinching aholes. They offered me a permanent role and gave me some significant stock to do so. Early on I tried, but I just struggled to see getting through even the next day.

About 5 months ago I was offered a new job with a competitor, accepted and then had to retract because I just couldn't walk away from the money. Tough decision, but the role was a significant step down and my reason for leaving was emotional.

Well, today, about 15 months post merger, the stock has gone from $126 to $254, with a $20 pop today alone. While the job is brutally difficult, I have found a better mental state to deal with it. Obviously, the money makes a huge difference.

I made this decision for my family. While I hate the term life changing money, it is life changing money. House paid off, kids college funds put aside, zero debt, my future back in my control.

What a great feeling to have persevered through a really really tough situation and have it pay off.

Cheers!
