One less guy recruiting for Harbaugh and UM...

Article is full of holes, but why does the giy single out UM?

Affirmative action in admissions was banned for the entire state university system-not just at UM. Does he believe that UM is the only university in the state that gives scholarships to athletes who wouldn't be admitted on their academic merits alone? That notion applies to every major school in the country. Singling out UM is lazy and shows that the entire article is agenda driven.

People that focus on this stuff is the exact reason for non progress when it comes to meaningful communication and understanding on race relations. They fuel the flames of racism by galvanizing the ignorant and they do it to pad their own bank account. They loved to see the flames in Ferguson, Missouri and they are the Al Sharpton's, Michael Moore's and Nancy Pelosi's of our society. I wonder what the background and motive of this writer truly is? Why was Michigan singled out?

A black man was elected and reelected President....

The fact that a black person was elected to the highest office in the country shows me that there are no limits on a person because of his or her race.

Stupid article

Rather than flame UM the author should have given credit to the school for supporting affirmative action all the way up to the Supreme Court.

Dude either has no idea about the history of affirmative action at UM or was simply chumming the waters with click bait.

Very poor piece of "journalism".

Finally-someone who gets it. It's like designating February as black history month. Black American's have been a part of and contributed to this nation from the beginning of it's very inception. What an insult to designate one month of the year to recognize their achievements! Then, for all of the other races, there is nothing which once again galvanizes the ignorant to fan the flames of hatred. It's and endless cycle of stupidity which is exacerbated by those who use it to fatten their bank accounts at the price of others. Why Michigan was singled out, who knows? Hell, why should black Americans attend Ole Miss, Miss State, Alabama and the rest of the SEC schools because they were the focal point of the Civil Rights movement in the 60's? It's ridiculous journalism and race baiting.

This article was pretty ridiculous. The writer clearly has an agenda, which involves trying to incriminate UM and put it in a bad light for black athletes. Makes me wonder where he's from and what college he grew up rooting for also.
The fact that this article is under a topic called Black Voices doesn't help the issue of racism or anything related to that. Because right next to it you have Gay Voices, and then Latino Voices and then Women. Anyone reading these articles under those topics could have a very biased opinion towards anything else because possibly they only want to believe what they read when it comes to articles about there own race, or they only read articles from just one of those topics and over time for a biased opinion.

To just single out UM is redundant and biased.

On another note, Reality Man, you are good at digging up redundant articles.

Re: I am a big advocate of free speech and enjoy reading opposing viewpoints**

When anyone allows themseves to play the roll of a victim they have already lost the war.

Just look at Penn State fan's. They would never loose a football game if it wasn't for the refs.

UM promoted affirmative action. They didn't shoot it down...

pretty ridiculous to blame UM for that. If UM was allowed to have affirmative action programs, they would.

Exactly. Blaming UM for that is like blaming gay rights activists for a gay marriage bill getting shot down. "Uh...wait....we're on YOUR side. How are we the bad guys here?"

The problem isn't his position on affirmative action...

it's that he's blaming the school for affirmative action not being in place, when the school fought for it. By that logic, UM is a "Sharpton/Holder wannabe".
