The D was worse than I remembered on the first and third drives. They couldn't stop the run, the pass (mainly slants), and gave up several 3rd down plays. NU moved down the field methodically. Pass interference, and holding calls.
The O was better than I remembered. They really only had three drives stopped without points in the 1st half. McKeun dropped an easy 1st down pass, on the other. There was a horrible hands to the face call on M Defense that should have been NU holding, that stopped another drive. There were a 3-4 holding calls against M that cost us big plays and a block in the back that cost us a great Peoples-Jones kick return.
2nd half:
M drove down the field to the 5, twice, field goals. Grrr.
The D completely shut NU down.
The Higdon bogus holding call stopped a promising drive.
Paterson busted play scrambles completely bailed out M several times in the winning drive.
Another block in the back on a People's-Jones kick return.

In sum:
We could be a great team. We are close. PENALTIES are killing us. You take those away, and we would have won by 9 to 17 points. We seem to start slow on D, as well.
I honestly believe that we could beat anyone in the B10, without stupid penalties.
