There is some partial blame to go to Baxter. The gunner on the left side looked like he was waiting for O'Neil to pass him the ball. I think this would have been a mistake. He should have been blocking. Criticism justified. My bad.

That being said...O'Neil dropped the ball and he was still running away from the blockers. Was this by design? Maybe and I would love to hear a comment from Baxter on why there were two guys gunning.

I was wrong. I admit it. This is something that needs to be answered. Why was UM covering a punt when MSU wasn't playing for a return.

I was wrong.

I noticed the Gunner turning back too, but I think that was a product of what he's supposed to do if uncovered. Made no sense for that gunner to stay out there though. Get your ass on the inside & protect! And the rugby style to the right was NOT needed there either. You best practice the conventional one step kick at least once every day so when you need it (See Saturday Night) you know how to do it!

Could be wrong about this because I haven't watched any replays but wasn't the snap a little low. No excuse for the punter not making the catch but just seems like all the blame has been placed on him.

How much 'give' does one have in their hands while catching a ball when after it hits, it goes forward in the air 1 yard? Poor guy was so dead set on catching and getting off a quick kick to his right to avoid the rush from his left which was unblocked by design, he seemed to have forgotten to catch with his fingertips and instead the ball hit his palms square and bounded right back where it came from a good 3 feet.
