I wonder what the big time Florida schools and their coaching staffs are thinking/talking about in regards to Sammy Faustin. None of the major schools in his home state offered him, yet here we have a traditional powerhouse and the best staff in all of college football offering him + receiving his commitment, loud and proud.
There is just too much respect for Harbaugh, Brown, and the rest of the Michigan staff for their peers to not have a brief moment of "hmmm... maybe we missed something here..."
Or maybe... "What the heck are they thinking?!?"
How about... "Uhhh we might want to at least watch some more tape and extend an offer.. this kid is probably vastly underrated."
To the last one.. It happened with Chris Evans. OSU offered a month before signing day, probably right around the time they realized that he was a stud and had room... too late.
Literally, we just got done stealing a VERY low ranked kid right from the Florida schools' backyard. Josh Metellus has already proven himself. He played very well against FSU as a true freshman and looks to be a key starter in this years defense as a sophomore. Metellus was ranked compositely as the 109th player in Florida, and 749th in the nation.. An afterthought.. He never receieved an offer from FSU, Florida, or Miami. His only other Power 5 offer was from Colorado.. 247 rated him as the 1247th player in the nation lol.. He is now well on his way to having an excellent college career.. maybe even NFL?
For comparison.. This would be like a major school coming in and getting a kid who was ranked somewhere between 20-25 in the state of Michigan, a kid pegged to go to WMU... The egos of these coaches probably run pretty high, and I doubt they give much thought to it... but still, if Saban did that, we would probably be a bit confused.
Too long, don't feel like reading:
Faustin has almost no offers from major schools (except Michigan), but I'm really excited to see what this kid can do in Don Brown's system. I couldn't care less about whether or not the kid is a 5* or a 2*... Until proven otherwise, we stole another talented player from Florida and I love it. Go blue!
