I just read the article on Daniyel Ngata on the front page. He is the 185-190 lb. Four Star 2020 running back from Folsom, CA, that calls Michigan his "dream school".

Some background: I follow high school football closely here in the Central Valley of Callifornia. Last week I attended the NorCal Division I championship game between Folsom (rated #7 in the country by MaxPreps) and the CIF Central Section Division I champion Central High School of Fresno. This was the 20th high school game I watched in person this year and, until last Friday night, Central was the best high school team I have seen here in the Valley in years.

Last year, Central and Folsom played in this same championship game, a game that Folsom won handily. That game was in the Sacramento area; this year Central was granted the home field advantage so I expected a closer game. It was not to be so.

Folsom won this game in a blow out 84-46. Yes, it was a football game, though it had a basketball score feel to it. The first three times Folsom had the ball they turned it over (2 INT's and one fumble). They then scored a TD on every possession the rest of the game. Central put up 46 and was completely out of the game after the first possession of the second half.

Going into this game I knew nothing about Folsom. Did not follow them, was out of the country for last years game, and this year's rematch was only announced 6 days before it happened. I didn't know about Daniel Ngata, their running back, having a serious offer from UM; I didn't know about his 5 Star older brother committed to Clemson; I didn't know about their quarterback headed to Boise State; I didn't know about all their other athletes on both sides of the ball. I learned all of this later.

It only took a couple of possessions for me to realize that Folsom had too much firepower for Central to win the game unless mega multiple turnovers somehow kept them it.

Even among all the great high school athletes on that field Friday night Daniyel Ngata jumped out at you. His speed, hands, elusiveness are all elite. With the big back from Oaks Christian coming in 2019, Daniyel Ngata would be the perfect compliment to him as the second back/third down back that every team seems to covet these days.

I hope we can get him to visit Ann Arbor soon and seal the deal soon thereafter. He's special.

Here's his Rivals link with video from his sophomore year.
