As Bill Parcels once said..."You are what your record says you are." Michigan is 5-2...with a terrible home loss to a rival...and a blowout loss to a much better team. Assuming we can beat Rutgers and Minny at home (hope), the away game at Maryland is NOT a sure thing...and we will be decided underdogs, with good reason, to both Wiscy and OSU. A final record of 8-4 is, perhaps, the best we can do.

Observations from last night...

1) PSU was literally better than Michigan at every single position group...OL/QB/RB/WR/TE...DL/LB/Safeties/CBs....

That is shocking to me given where PSU was 4 yrs ago...and is a stark dose of reality to me regarding the real level of talent on UM's roster. (Yes, I know we're young)

2) Our defense was spread out and exposed. PSU's WRs/RB exploited our LBs and Safeties...McCray in particular. The defense last night was THE biggest disappointment and, IMO, Ohio State has even more weapons than PSU.

3) QB play...If you do not have a TRUE run/pass threat playing QB, you are missing a KEY ingredient to a championship team...flat out. Even Alabama has a dual threat QB..!

And, I don't mean a QB who CAN escape and make plays when needed...but rather, a QB whose running is part of the overall threat the offense presents. Look no further than McSorley last night...his running was part of the plan...and he KILLED us, both passing and running.

4) Offensive philosophy...given #3 above, it is certainly understandable to wonder if Harbaugh's pure pro-style offense can truly win a B10 or National Championship...or even the East division of the B10.

The teams beating us have true dual threat QBs...MSU, PSU, OSU...Only Wiscy is excepted...and they do what they do FAR better than we do what we do....

Soooo....going forward I honestly worry if Harbaugh will, or can, adjust to what college football really is today. Being 1-2 versus MSU, 0-3 (probably) versus OSU...and getting destroyed versus PSU in year 3 is what it is...and Michigan, as our record shows, is what our record says it is.

Like the old lyric..."You is what you is...and you ain't what you ain't..!"

Right now, Michigan is still behind MSU...and significantly behind PSU and OSU.
