Well, any small chance of getting to the NCAA tournament just went out the window. This is truly a rebuilding season for the basketball team. Hopefully some of these young players step it up or else we are going to see some ugly games. Losing your best player on a mediocre team is a really bad thing. The only positive is that a lot of young players are going get plenty of playing time to improve. We are now officially developing the players/team for next season.

It sounds like an injury which won't hamper him long term but it most likely impacts his draft status because it appears he will be out for the next 3-4 months. It will be interesting to see he will end up coming back to UM for his senior year.

That sucks for Caris and the team. Terrible news. My thoughts...

1. LeVERT will come back because coming off a broken foot for the 2nd time is going to cause apprehension among draft teams. Let's be honest. Plus...he needs to get strong on the physical development side. I wish the injury didn't impact his decision but it will unfortunately.

2. This team isn't making the NIT tournament now. The blessing from the team perspective is that Irvin, Dawkins, MAAR, Doyle, Donnal are going to have all sorts of opportunities to develop their game in real time.

From what I have seen...here are the best players on the team before the injury.

1. LeVERT
2. LeVERT
3. Walton
4. Doyle
5. Irvin

You do the math.
