you ask me. I get his thinking of not allowing players to presume they automatically get a 5th year but I think there is a way better way to do it than shoving one foot out the door by celebrating them on senior day tomorrow.
In fact, I would do the exact opposite. I would make the player declare their intentions now. IF they say, for whaever reason "I am not returning for a 5th year", then let them go through Senior day. In essence, Harbaugh could still "deny" them their 5th year later for a player who intends on coming back. Said player's life would go on having missed senior day.
I just don't like this idea of letting them get a foot out the door.
