These players from the defending national championship team, surrounded by dozens of returning teammates, and friends on both sides of the ball, with an undefeated streak (the only one) on l the line, have no reason to come back? Perhaps the players are "normal human" late teen and early 20-year old men whose best friends are on the team, and with friends or significant others among the student population, living on a beautiful Ann Arbor campus that has become home to them.
Heck, I know that a bunch of posters on this site have been wondering why guys like Kechaun Bennett, who despite being buried down the depth chart hasn't hit the portal yet. If you don't want to read the article, I'll just state that Bennett is dating this USC recruit's older sister, who goes to Michigan.
After reading this I chuckled and thought with a smile: How many football players on our squad are also tied to the University and the football program by their girlfriends being Michigan students?
These players are people first with connections outside of football to the University of Michigan. I think that Graham and Loveland both were on some All-Academic lists... Perhaps they have interest in actually being students and graduating. Many of these football players end up getting married to their Michigan girlfriends, and have lifelong friends who aren't football players.

In other words, we read how JJ was quietly taken care of, and Will as well not long after he committed and joined the team early. Blake was doing well enough with NIL money that he was using a lot to give back.
Elsewhere there already has been havoc: Quinn Ewers, Caleb Williams, and Bo Nix were lifted from their previous squads (OSU, OU, and Auburn- far from lightweights) for big $. Big time WR like Jordan Addison (from Pitt to USC) and Keon Coleman (MSU to FSU) were big $ portal stars.
In addition, we've seen coaches flip from program to program, taking their players, and coaching staff with them.
All of Michigan's major player losses have been to the NFL.
All of Michigan's major coaching losses have been to the NFL.
Perhaps that should tell some of the more negative people that perhaps Michigan should be proud:
Michigan players and coaches leave for only better propositions, none of which are at other college programs.
