On Friday, I drove to Detroit Cass Tech to see the annual crosstown rivalry between the Technicians and heated foe Detroit King. The idea was to scout both 2026 athlete Corey Sadler Jr., who will be a top recruit in his class soon, and 2025 defensive back Alex Graham. The latter didn't dress because of a lingering hip injury but he's expected to be back this week after being cleared by doctors.

I will have a full breakdown of Sadler published later today but the FutureCast is going to Graham, whose first Power 5 offer was from Michigan back in the winter. Since then, the younger cousin of Dante Moore has made three unofficial visits to Ann Arbor this year, highlighted with a summer camp participation in June and later returning for the night game against Hawaii. Graham wants to take future visits to schools like Louisville, Kentucky, Missouri, and Cincinnati, but the close proximity to the Wolverines will allow him to almost be a regular visitor for as long as he keeps his recruitment open.

Graham has a family connection Michigan as his mother graduated from the university. As stated before, with Moore as one his cousins, understanding the recruiting process and learning as much as possible about the Wolverines from someone who was heavily sought after in the past has really heightened the interest of Michigan for Graham. It's also been beneficial for Graham to be close friends with fellow in-state players who will either play for the Wolverines or have offers from them like Amir Herring and Isaiah Marshall.

Every time that Graham has been to campus has given him to the chance get closer with Steve Clinkscale, who's garnered an uncle-type role to the sophomore. That opinion about Clinkscale is not just unique to Graham as pretty much anyone who's built a relationship with the co-defensive coordinator feels the same way. It's good to see Clinkscale continuing to make waves in the Detroit area and its suburbs, which he did at every coaching stop before coming to Michigan, and is using his connections from the past to his advantage at the local school. At the end of the Hawaii game, Graham and his family were seen walking and talking with Clinkscale towards the tunnel. Watching that interaction make it evident that the bond between the two is tight-knit.

Graham currently stands about 6-foot-1 and has been told by doctors to expect a two-inch growth before college. If he can reach that goal, he'll be a high commodity at safety. Michigan and Clinkscale haven't told Graham where they project him at the next level but Graham is comfortable playing any position along the secondary. One of the goals these next few months for Graham is getting his 40-yard time down to under 4.4. On the track, Graham is a junior All-American and competes in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100 relay.

Graham is the second 2025 in-state recruit who I've made FutureCast predictions on. I did the same for Howell two-way lineman Bobby Kanka last the spring. There's still two years left to go in the process for Graham but Michigan is doing everything right to become the early leader.
