I know that some of thee best, most objective advice that I could receive comes from you, this august group of Michigan fans ! Like cars, food, literature...one’s taste in COFFEE is going to vary.
Here is my situation and parameters...thanks for your opinion !
I am a once-a-month “amateur” coffee drinker, so my opinion means ‘squat.’ My tea-totalling wife and myself occasionally have coffee-drinking friends over. I like to be accommodating, of course.
Without going too ‘hog-wild’ on some exotic system, I would like to offer a reasonably “premium experience” in coffee. We have an ancient “Mr. Coffee” system where you use the paper filters and filll in the water reservoir in the back. I am use to buying “ground” coffee, and following the instructions.
These are the three kinds that I have tried, with “polite-to-positive” responses:
(a) Gevalia (a couple of styles, incl. “House”)
and
(b) on-line Amazon order “KONA Red” (certified 100% Kona Coffee, small batch roasted)...about $40. a pound;
(c) Peete’s Coffee (I was told this particular ground blend had a hint of ‘fruit’ in it. People kinda liked it. I think I heard about it here, on The Fort, actually.
Personally, I have been a little disappointed by both in that all advertise “smoothness” which would indicate no “stomach after-burn”, yet I experience THAT.
I have heard that the Jamaican Blue Mountain brand is good.
Again, I realize that different people enjoy differing tastes.
What do you folks like, and why? Thanks !
