Guaranteeing another media blitz for Harbaugh. HA!

I don't think the camps ended up doing that much for Michigan's recruiting. It was all the publicity, and you can't unring that bell. I don't think this will negatively impact Michigan's recruiting much, if at all.

All that said, the NCAA is just stupid.

Yeah, I don't get this one. The camps were a general win-win-win: for the smaller schools (e.g., when an Old Dominion type school hosts a camp), for the bigger schools who participated (U-M and the like, U-M wasn't alone here), and for the players (never hurts to get another chance to be noticed).

More regulations on off-campus spring practice: that's the one I thought would happen (still hasn't). But not this one.

I hope that Harbaugh and Manuel blast the NCAA and the ACC/SEC very publicly and loudly on this. I really hope Michigan isn't just going to roll over on this.

I don't think it's going to hurt Michigan, but it does piss me off that they are being targeted by a bunch of insecure jackasses.

Michigan will still get the top recruits, however, I do hate it for the kids who wanted to attend because their state universities hold their camps on their campus only. They are generally invite camps as well. I do think Michigan was recruiting from the camps but so what??? who really cares and coaches like Brett (fat ass) Bieliema has been whining about them. He sucks at Arkansas and has made the Hogs a non contender in the SEC. Both the ACC and SEC especially are ridiculous. It was proven that Roy Williams KNEW that his UNC program was having other kids take tests for them and special classes were being CREATED for UNC basketball players and the NCAA has done NOTHING about it and they will not. The SEC is worst of all. Academics are not a priority down here for most of the major universities and they cheat so bad in recruiting and NOTHING is done. They are afraid of what Harbaugh did last year at Michigan. Meyer will not complain at OSU because he was and still is part of the SEC slime ball organization and OSU is really and SEC team mentality of the Midwest.

NCAA is pissing off a lot more people than just Jim Harbaugh on this new rule. A lot of people are blasting it. You helped out a few ACC and SEC coaches and hurt a lot of other people, most notably athletes who could get wider exposure.

The NCAA needs to pull a George Castanza and just do the opposite of everything they normally do.

But, never fear ---- coaches can send unlimited texts to potential recruits.

Evaluation of recruits = Bad! Harassment of recruits = Good!

Mark Emmert must own some Verizon stock.

Ha! I can't wait to see what Harbaugh has to say about this. NCAA needs to be seriously looked at. A complete joke of an organization on every level.

If Jim has any integrity and self-respect, he will let this "controversy" die and respect the NCAA decision. I appreciate his passion and enthusiasm, but there has to be a line drawn at some point to say enough is enough Harbaugh.

No one is above the law, let alone the NCAA. Harbaugh, please don't embarrass us anymore. It should be about equal playing field. Be a man and move on.

Strange post. What's wrong with JH Tweeting his opinion (Vegas odds of said Tweet = 99-1 in favor of)? The Butch Jones Tweet a few weeks ago was an unprovoked cheap shot, but this wouldn't be the same thing.

"Not respecting the NCAA decision" would be if JH goes out and violates the rule. I seriously doubt that will happen.

This guy is definitely not a Michigan fan.

Somebody needs to teach you how to troll a little more subtly.

The funniest spin I'm seeing is PSU and MSU fans saying that Harbaugh ruined it for everybody. Not that the SEC and ACC ruined it by proposing the rule. Or that the NCAA ruined it by enacting the rule.

Very strange logic going on. HAAA!

Notre Dame has been doing this for 20 years. Ohio State and even Penn State has done the camps as well. This happened before Harbaugh arrived in Ann Arbor. It's time for the NCAA to step up its leadership and ban over signing and target schools that make academic exceptions for their athletes like the Big 12, ACC, and the SEC. Roy Williams should have been fired for what he has done at UNC and the Heels should be banned from the Tournament for a decade for academic cheating. The NCAA of course looked the other way.

Too late...I think Harbaugh accomplished his objective and made Michigan relevant again in the eyes of recruits. If anything Harbaugh can use this as an advantage and tell recruits that the SEC is afraid of Michigan. Can't wait to here Harbaugh on twitter

Exactly. And the NCAA looks petty for banning something that help the high school athletes. There are already quotes from kids coming out about how the camps helped them personally.

As I understand it, the proposition was put to a vote and all conferences except the BIG voted to end the satellite camps. How else could the NCAA react?

Not exactly. Source told @ESPN conferences that voted against satellite camps: ACC, Big 12, SEC, Pac-12, MWC, Sun Belt. In favor: B1G, AAC, C-USA, MAC

However, the fact that it was put to a vote is the doing of the NCAA. These satellite camps have been around for years. Some SEC and ACC coaches start whining and the NCAA decides it needs to hold a referendum.

I wouldn't call it whining. It's more about defending your territory form unwanted, unnecessary and uninvited intrusion.

Doesn't matter the NCAA put an end to the bullsh*t, bush league maneuver. So keep your team in your state and all is right with the world and everyone is happy.

Boy clemson fans are whiny. ACC and SEC are a bunch of a crying babies, just like their coaches. Not to mention how this just shows the fear of those leagues hahaha.

Let me try to follow your logic: I voiced my opinion therefore I'm not a Michigan fan? Last I checked, I have a degree from University of Michigan Ann Arbor.

You?
So your big whine is level playing field. What about some conferences having a 9 game schedule and others don't. Is it time for a big change? What's your thoughts?

This is pretty ridiculous. Most recruits actually liked the camps, especially the ones who aren't able to travel as much out of there home state. But of course the SEC has to get there way.
And then you have asshats like Paul Finebaum who praise what Harbaugh is doing one moment and then say his camps were only about him and not the players once this rule was passed.

No problem with teams recruiting nationally, in fact I think it's the best way to recruit. I don't oppose teams having camps in states where their conference has a team(s). I am just not in favor of coaches /teams doing camps outside their conference footprint.

Bush league? You and I have different definitions of "bush league."

I find it hilarious that a conference synonymous with cheating cried foul when Harbaugh did something that was legal. I mean, absolutely hilarious.

You, just like the rest of the town criers in the ACC AND SEC, still don't get it. Harbaugh, and many others, WHO WERE ALREADY DOING SATELLITE CAMPS IN THE PAST, weren't breaking any rules. Only when they start to feel threatened about losing recruits to a far better coach with better recruiters (go ahead check, UofM has the nation's top recruiter) do they start to make an issue of it. The SEC has cheated at recruiting so many times it's ridiculous. But when a B1G coach does something LEGAL, the NCAA makes a ruling against it. God lord, it's just as screwed up as the justice system. Get your head screwed on straight pal.

Great job defending the B1G, Jim Delaney! No comment, what a tool. What good is that guy, like at anything? How does he stay employed? He makes millions and is terrible at his job.

Here is Delany's comments on the matter. I wish he'd just kept his mouth shut instead. What a worthless, spineless, asshat.
"It is what it is. We made our case for holistic vs. ad hoc. You have to accept it. That's part of the (system) we signed on for. No reaction beyond that. You always would like to win rather than to lose a vote — I don't care whether it's in a court or legislature or an assembly of people. You go with the system that's in place, and so I support that, respect that and move on." - Jim Delany

Big loss for Harbaugh. Has to hurt canceling a half-dozen camps.
