Here’s a 2023 Sports Illustrated article describing the NCAA’s Committee on Infractions. The article begins, If you are a college coach or administrator, this is the last room you should want to be in, defending yourself against allegations of NCAA rules violations. Your career may be on the line. Your university may be facing harmful penalties.
The article goes on to say… The only times a negotiated resolution is rejected are when the findings are deemed to not be in the best interests of the NCAA.
This suggests that the penalties for the allegations against Jim Harbaugh will be more serious than negotiated with the NCAA investigators. The NCAA’s statement that “it’s more than a cheeseburger” and their rejection of the negotiated settlement is worrisome.
