I’ve been doing a lot of reading over the last few days regarding a talent gap. Sorry folks, I’m not buying much of it. The issues we saw on Saturday go more to preparation and execution than anything else. We didn’t look right on Saturday, in part, because of want to. OSU wanted it more, played off its crowd, and it was evident. Somehow, we have to get it drilled in to our guys that you have to bring it every snap in this game. After the Indiana Game, I cringed when Shea mentioned the OSU Game was just another game. I don’t think he meant it that way, but my inference was that he felt if we keep doing what we are doing, we’ll be fine. That’s not the right mindset. This game takes more than doing what we previously did. You have to take everything you previously have done and magnify it. OSU does that. We did not this year. That appeared evident. As for OSU, there are still plenty of warts. It’s as if the previous 11 weeks were a facade. OSU was a play away from losing the BIG East, OSU struggled with lesser teams each week. That’s no fluke. But, we didn’t assess what those other teams did, namely Purdue, and incorporate into what we do for this game. Bottom line-our coaches need to be better, and our players must bring their best every play as opposed to average performances against OSU. We need that “I’m your Huckleberry” moment from one of our leaders. Someone needs to be that guy.
