Here is where the wall of noise is shading everything. IF the rule was violated we have NO IDEA what that means in regards to punishment because the rule was NOT put in to prevent cheating. We all know that. It was just for cost saving. AND we also know that its pretty clear that EVERY big time program steals signs in one fashion or another - so are we to believe that while EVERYONE is stealing signs and as a result most programs change their signs frequently ( like OSU last year before playing us ) that UM having a low level staffer who may have sent “friends” to other games to gather “intel” suddenly makes UM a behemoth and thats why they have been successful ??? HELL NO. thats ridiculous. It's also what OSU etc would of course be screaming. Hell we would too if shoe was on other foot. Anything to diminish our accomplishments and maybe just maybe we could get punished for it. And maybe a small chance we could not be allowed to play in CFP or Big Ten championship ??? ( doubtful ) or MAYBE it messes with our heads so we are overly cautious vs PSU and OSU and its just enough to tip the balance ???? sure. We would all be screaming the same thing BUT if any reasonable thinker thinks the NCAA or the Big Ten is gonna treat this like the Black Sox scandal and throw the book at UM I believe they are delusional. Because unless they can prove that multiple COACHES knew about this and condoned it its likely that it will EVENTUALLY be treated as Level 2 or 3 violation and no games will be lost and no post season bans will occur. Bottom Line: we have lost the plot and sadly so have several writers like Stewie Mandel and Pat Forde. and I feel awful for our kids. BUT I also think this will stoke their fire even higher
