My Thoughts and Reflections

For all of us in varying shape and forms, this is our thing. This is what we do not just on 12+ Fall Saturdays, but year round.

We do what we can as fans to do our part.

Just thinking years back, I remember being in the car listening to parts of games if we were out and about and hanging on every word. This was my religion and that was my sermon.

The players were gods to me. They were superhuman. I didn't see them or think of them as just regular, special athletes. These were in a sense heroes that came on my television every Saturday morning.

Honestly, I handled the hard stuff better as a kid. The naivety of life at that age, it was easier to wake up, go to school, recess (for me I played basketball with my friends everyday sun and snow). We won, we lost. Still hurt. I was sad if we lost, but being a kid has a way of making that pain not linger. But that passion grew every game, every year.

Times goes by fast. It feels like the 90s were forever ago, but also so recent.

Barely any internet, no fancy phones, no fancy tvs, I turned on the television every Saturday to see our team. Who was back, who was gonna be the next QB, to see those beautiful uniforms.

1997
Beating ohio state throughout the 90s.
2003 (A personal favorite team of mine as a big John Navarre and Chris Perry fan).
2006
The struggles that followed.

Our special team had veered off track for a few years and we have the pain in our faces, our hearts, and our scars.

We were robbed in 2016 and had to get back on track for a few years. Again close a few times, but not quite there.

Going into 2021 was weird in the sense that this looked doable, but we had to believe and see it before we could confirm.

Then we were improved. Winning. Making comebacks. Got robbed in criminal fashion on Hutch's td reversal.

Then the 2021 ohio state game. This program had made it look like beating ohio state was impossible. We continued our trend of bad games, close and lead and can't finish, and being a player or Qb short (2017) with a great gameplan.

Then we dominated. Running all over them. Hutch with a top 5 performance in program history.

Then we do it again in 2022 with no Corum.

And then again in 2023 after a month of us getting shit on by the most pathetic, orchestrated simpesque stunts in college sports history.

And we slayed the so called greatest coach ever in saban.

And beat washington despite many geniuses on tv picking them.

Winning the National Title, I think back to the simpler days as a kid. That's how I feel. I'm so happy. We may all now be much older than the players, but to me these guys are these superhumans that I have grown up with and keep extending this reality television show I watch every Saturday.

GO BLUE.
