Couch wrote a column today about how top teams should NOT be given high rankings if they have not had good road wins and only play at home.
It was a back handed way of trying to diminish several top teams while praising MSU for their willingness to play a number of neutral site games and both Rutgers (B1G bottom dweller) and Florida on the road.
Ironically, it was the Spartans who were gifted a B1G regular season championship in 2017 because they only had to play a total of 7 games vs the other top 7 B1G teams. Every other top team had to play at least 8. More important, of those 7 tough games, 5 were at the Breslin so MSU only had to play 2 of the top seven B1G teams on the road last year.
By contrast UM played 8 games vs the top B1G contenders including 4 games on the road vs the top 7.
Strangely, Graham Couch did not bring that up when he trumpeted the Spartan Championship.
