More evidence that Maryland and Rutgers both suck

Randy Edsall is going to be fired at Maryland: http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo...d-will-part-ways-with-coach-randy-edsall-soon

And nobody really knows why Rutgers hasn't fired Kyle Flood yet. He most likely won't see next season.

Those are some great teams you added to the B1G, Delany! Both are a disaster.
Delaney pushed for Md and R because of their population and eastern seaboard. Like in real estate, "it's location, location, location.." Which relates to dollars. Did anyone ever think these two schools were added for their football prowness?

For the counterpoint: an article in this week's Ad Age magazine (a well respected publication in the marketing and advertising space), as regards Maryland's and Rutgers' impact on the Big Ten Network. And as a result, their impact on the conference as a whole.

Have you noticed there are a whole lot less low-rent Ro-Tel commercials on BTN of late?

Also, I wouldn't mind a rule that said "unless your favorite school's record is .500 or better against Rutgers & Maryland, you aren't allowed to bitch and complain about the lack of football prowess of those schools."

For Michigan fans (1-2, which is not .500 or better), that means no more whining for a few more weeks.

In all fairness both those teams beat us last year. The East division is already loaded with OSU, MSU, Mich, and PSU anyway. We needed a couple bottom dwellers. It's the West that needs to beef up a bit.

Ro-Tel commercials, good one. I recall them and B Dubs were on EVERY timeout the first year Comcast carried BTN in the fall of '08. I think beside the school PSA's, they may have been the only advertisers.

There's more to the BIG then just football you know? Maryland is a Top 5 basketball program and you will take them all day long. Infact, they are the favorites to win the BIG this year. The BIG is likely the best basketball conference now with Maryland on board. Rutgers adds no value whatsoever though.

I think your idea of a rule should be, before you call out an opinion you study the comment. I never said they could never win, I did say that they are not considered power houses in football but the academics plus the dollar income to the BTN and the conf was the major reason for their invitation. So, if they pan out financially as planned or not, I stand by my statement and send yours down the crapper w the rest of the crap. Typed fast and not checking, not worth my time, you understand my reply to you, I'm betting.

Diluting the football product in order to strengthen basketball is insane.

The only reason this was done was to strengthen BTN. Does that benefit you in any way? Are you just blindly defending the additions of Rutgers and Maryland, or do you really like having these schools in the Big Ten? Unless you enjoy playing Rutgers and Maryland every single year in football and not playing Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, etc. as much as we use to, I don't see why you're defending it.

You'd rather play Rutgers instead of Wisconsin? That's what is happening and that's what you're defending.
