3. Energy, Emotion and Intensity
A first-year MSU head coach in Mel Tucker coming off a loss to Rutgers somehow got his players to play with more passion, fire and intensity than Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh got his to, even though the latter talked all week about how much this rivalry means. Most expected Michigan to roll MSU this weekend, and it looks like the Wolverine players and coaches bought into that sentiment as well and perhaps thought they were better than they are.
