now hinge on the following scenario (this is just my opinion):
  • OSU beats MSU
  • Iowa wins their next 2 and head to BIG championship game ranked #3 or #4
  • Michigan beats PSU, OSU, & Iowa
  • Clemson, Oklahoma State, & Alabama win the rest of their games
  • Stanford beats Notre Dame but loses to USC or Utah in championship game
Based on the rankings right now, logic would say Michigan would jump up to #4 if that happened. I think given our upcoming schedule, it would be hard for any 2-loss team to be ranked higher the Michigan given their losses would have been to 2 Top 20 teams (perhaps ND can have a good claim) and they would have beaten 2 Top 5 teams (assuming wins against OSU and Iowa).

Pretty exciting and insane that there is an actual possibility. Ironically I don't think it's impossible for the above scenarios to happen. Stanford is potentially the only team that can throw a monkey wrench into the equation by not losing but I suspect at some point our smackdown of NW and their loss to NW will put us over them. Lot's of football still left. GO BLUE!!!
