The women's tennis team just put the finishing touches on a thrilling 4-3 upset of #8 OSU in Columbus.
After Michigan lost the doubles point, they won the first 3 singles matches - straight set wins from Jones at #3, Cerdan at #4 and Gala at #6.
With the match seemingly in hand, Michigan lost the next two to tie things up at 3, and it all came down to freshman Kari Miller (from Pioneer High) at the #1 singles spot. Miller lost the first set, won the second and went up 5-2 in the 3rd. Then it started to fall apart as Miller lost 4 straight games to go down 6-5. But she regained her composure and won to force a tiebreak. Miller then straight up opened a can in the tiebreak and easily won 7-2.
This is a young team. They had 3 freshman and a sophomore playing singles today. But at the very least, today they established that they have a pretty high ceiling.
