I will never, ever understand those Michigan fans who root for State.
First, those on this message board probably represent the top 5% of ardent Michigan fans and to root for your chief rival in ANYTHING blows my mind. I have said it before and I will say it again, do Red Sox fans root for the Yankees? Hell no. It just plain shocks me that there is any rationale at all for those that love Michigan who could bring themselves to root for State whether it is against Kentucky, Louisville, Duke or Eastern Michigan.
The Big Ten argument. Never understood this one either. I could care less if the entire Big Ten sucked and the Michigan won a national title in football or basketball or any sport for that matter. A national or Big Ten championship is just that, a championship. The idea that Michigan gets "bonus points" or betters their reputation because Ohio St. or Michigan St. succeed is ludicrous.
The State of Michigan argument. Those that root for MSU because they are from the state of Michigan is the biggest joke of an argument. If you live here, as I do, you will quickly realize the Spartan faithful are a lot like Travis Trice's mom, loud and annoying. The school's inferiority complex takes over in their success and they just become rabid idiots with their success.
So, as Michigan State stands on the verge of a Final Four, I just cannot fathom rooting for them. Not in my DNA. Never will be.
