9 wins is certainly greater then anyone expected. I am not sure where klenmann keeps getting 7-9. Everyone basically predicted 7-5 or the most optimistic were at 8-4. I am upset that we could not get a win against Sparty but hopefully we can against OSU. I predicted 10-2 so still in the hunt and if Meyer calls the type of game he did last night, we will win but you know OSU will be pissed.
Optimistic in that Harbaugh has basically taught a group of players that don't know how to fight a claw much, how to compete. That was one thing missing in the Hoke era - the minute something went wrong, the entire foundation of the team crumbled. They did not manage unscripted outcomes at all. If we fumbled, the whole team basically would shut down - on all aspects. That's a habit that is hard to break so I can only imagine what things will be like in Year 2! I expect tons of attrition in Year 2 specifically because they just won't cut it in the Harbaugh regime and thank god for that. I think players with a sense of entitlement should not play at Michigan.
I can't wait to see the product Harbaugh puts on the field next year and more specifically in 2017. Assuming O'Korn is the guy next year he will have had 1 full season to learn the JH offense. The RB position is the one that still worries me the most because we don't have a back that is a complete package - one that can break lose, juke players, has awesome vision, and can block. Smith is a great blocker but has zero speed or moves. Isaac (who I expect will leave next year) has the speed and the moves, but can't block to save his life. Green is just below average in all facets of the game. We need some help at WR and RB. I saw McAffery of Stanford yesterday - what a weapon!!! Shaw is a great coach but if Michigan had someone as electric as him, I think we would win every game by quite a few points. That is one special kid.
Now as for OSU last night - really disappointed that they could not beat MSU. I have seen a lot of Urban's games and that was the worst called game in his career. Sparty's secondary is terrible - they have been lit up left and right by everyone this season and yet OSU refused to throw the ball despite superior athletes on the team. That was just poor play calling. Bad weather or not, JT had enough time from his O-line but they just insisted on running up the gut against MSU despite that being the MSU strength on defense. I can't stand Dantonio but I have a lot of respect for the guy - he works his magic. I still don't see him as the top coach in college - however, if next season - given all the departures he will have with Cook, Conklin, Allen, Burridge, Calhoun, etc - he can somehow win 10-11 games I will concede that he might be the best there is in college right now.
