Just watched that Illinois game. What is it that they do exactly on offense?
After watching what we do, the sets we run, the ball movement to get guys in the post, all of it, I am not sure there is another team out there running as good of action, consistently. Maybe Gonzaga, as they really spread you out and run very nice stuff, but when you compare what we are doing vs other supposedly elite teams, it’s really not close.
We do very simple things well. The 3 man game that we use to get HD into good post position and to ensure good passing angles into the post is beautiful, yet simple. Set plays for guys.
The NBA influence has really separated us from others and will make us very tough to shutdown.
I think an underrated part of this is Smith. He is really sneaky with the ball, especially in the pick and roll. I would pick and roll Illinois to death, same with Iowa. Bring those bugs away from the basket and force them to move those slow feet.
These last few games should be great. We can really play loose now that Illinois lost.
