2018, much promise just like 2016 and same result! Today though, a total beat down and collapse in the most important of games. Just like a microcosm of this program, we cannot finish the season strong, same tune honestly now for a long, long time with this program! This was the most points I think since Dennis Dixon and Oregon, total domination...62 points is a utter embarrassment, especially for this rivalry, if you even want to call it that anymore. So, really here are the options in IMO moving forward with this program

1) You are not going to out recruit OSU, period. They are a talent rich state like Cali, Texas and Florida. Also, they have had much more success then us, for much longer (Kids don't even remember UM being a national power anymore). So, we are never going to out recruit them, maybe once every couple years. So, we are at an **auto** disadvantage there! That means we are going to have to create mismatches with the individuals we do have, since overall talent will be lower. Urban is fantastic at this, he plays to his teams strengths and changes that based on the opponent for the most part. Sure he under performs now and then, but he wins big games, Harbaugh does not. MSU is not a big game sorry, either is PSU.

2) You are are NOT going to out-scheme them, that related to 1 above. They have better athletes all over the place. So, that means we are going to need to run a scheme that is both modern with the times and also puts players in positions to create mismatches. Meaning, we should have spread OSU out and used Shea to his strengths, empty backfields, etc, zone reads etc. Purdue, Nebraska and Maryland spread OSU out. They lost because they don't have the athletes. Rich Rod as well did this, but his D sucked and he didn't have all the pieces.

IMO again, 1980s manball is BS and its done. Its not the 1990s anymore either, sorry! Its not going to work anymore. Harbaugh got lucky beating USC doing that, but that was years ago and again, we are not Bama. You are not going to be able to do that against OSU. Sure if we were Bama and had 95% 4 and 5 star players, that scheme would work, but we are not. Also, even Bama is running a power spread now. Saban, changed, and Harbaugh needs to do the same. We need A DEDICATED O coordinator, to call what he wants. Let do brown do his thing and the O coordinator do his thing. You don't bring a spread QB to run manball, and its predictable and does not work against the OSUs and Bamas of the world. Sure, you can beat garbage teams, but look at the top 4 teams, none run this scheme.

Also, we have 3 rivals.....3! OSU has one rival.....US!!! So, until we start making this game a priority and scheme to OSU weaknesses, we will see the same. They have better athletes, and probability always will. Running a 1980s offense is not going to work.
