Most of the best Aussie Rules Footballers come from Melbourne. I lived there for 5 years from 1999 to 2004 and fell in love with the Aussie Rules games. My team was the Essendon Bombers.
I have been saying for years (since I moved there) that these guys should be recruited as punters for our US gridiron football as they are generally better athletes and much more skilled than our kickers. They are like TE's or RBs who can kick very far and extremely accurately while on the run. There is no passing allowed in the game so the progression of the ball down the field in Aussie Rules requires players kicking the ball forward to the on-ball player so every player is a skilled kicker and placement is key.
