With the softball roster posted at mgoblue.com, a few random thoughts on the upcoming (fingers crossed) season.
Senior outfielders Haley Hogenraad and Thais González will take advantage of the extra year’s eligibility (due to the season’s early pandemic ending) offered by the NCAA. Will Beaubien reap an additional season due to the extra year’s eligibility ruling?
I’m fairly certain I read somewhere that the baseball team won’t be taking their cold-weather-necessitated trips south and west due to athletic department budgetary constraint. Same would hold true for the softball team, if that’s the case. As a result, hopefully we would see an expanded regional schedule in frigid weather. Is this the year to finally push baseball/softball schedules to later dates so northern teams don’t have the weather disadvantage? Probably not...NCAA...would require sensible thinking.
Transfers out: Morgan Overaitis to Virginia Tech; Gianna Carosone to Southern Utah

Keke Tholl C/1B (yes, niece of long-time assistant Bonnie Tholl) Don’t think nepotism here. Think lucky advantage to have an “in” on a quality recruit.
