Michigan Defenseman Cam York, forwards Matty Beniers and Brendan Brisson start their IIHF World Junior Championship play tonight in Edmonton with an exhibition game against Finland at 9:30 pm. All games are televised on the NHL Network.

After four warm-up games, two both tonight and tomorrow night, regular tournament play starts on Friday, Christmas Day. The US opens against Russia at 9:30 pm that night.

Red Wings fans should particularly follow the Swedish team. Five Red wings draftees are on the final Swedish roster; forwards Lucas Raymond (1st round), Theodor Niederbach(2nd round) from their 2020 draft, and defensemen Albert Johansson (2nd round), forward Elmer Soderblom and Gustav Berglund from their 2019 draft.

I’ve posted a link above to the full schedule.

The level of play in this tournament is excellent and highly entertaining.
