Yep. Graham and one of the other two Glasgow's walked on @ UM. Graham certainly had a great UM career (was honored as UM's best lineman this season) & has been tearing up practice this week for today's East / West Shrine game. He'll surely get drafted & get paid - & probably pretty high too.

Either way, if Swenson was indeed still offered a full scholarship - then I believe there is absolutely nothing wrong Harbaugh did. He was still given the opportunity to get a free Michigan diploma and that is perfectly ethical.

If that is a fact, then I may have to retract what I was saying earlier about Harbaugh, or at least rewind a little bit. I understand he was offered an opportunity to come on as a preferred walkon. Where was it documented that he also received an academic scholarship? For 4 years?

Not that you care, but here's what I wrote on the NU board (where we have been discussing the Swenson situation, given our obsession with JH and his recruiting tactics from his Stanford days) after I saw the post above claiming Swenson was offered an academic scholarship:

Someone on Michigan board claiming that Swenson was offered an academic scholarship and a designation as a preferred walk-on.

This does not seem plausible to me, but if it is the case, it may change my perception of the situation.

On one hand, Swenson would still have the opportunity to attend his dream school, to join the football team, and to prove his merit to break on to the field. I'm not sure I see anything wrong with that. Maybe Harbaugh is also gambling that the kid loved Michigan so much he would still come (and hence, open up another scholarship). On the other - it isn't exactly being straight up with him either. Should have told him earlier that he wasn't going to have an opportunity at Michigan to come as a full scholarship player.

For the record, I have no problem with what Harbaugh did with Matt Falcon. Was straight up with him, said he didn't think the kid would be able to play for Michigan, but took care of him with an academic scholarship. And did so much earlier in the recruiting cycle. Falcon could have chosen to stay at Michigan, get his degree, and try to make the team. Instead, he chose to go elsewhere where he thought he had a better chance of playing. It was up front, direct, and the kid made a decision.

Similarly, in this case, if Swenson was given the opportunity to go to UM on a scholarship, and was being asked to prove himself as a walk-on, I have less of an issue with that. I do think it may be gaming the system a bit, but it's not exactly the same as kicking him to the curb as I thought it was.

This all said, I can't find any substantiation to the claims that he was told up front what his status was (that he was being reevaluated) or that his scholarship was in jeopardy, as well as any hint that he was offered an academic scholarship. Instead, we have this:

What is wrong with using the word 'foreigners'? So what if AB sees someone who is not a US citizen as a foreigner...as in foreign born. By the way...I won't be voting for Trump and believe in reasonable immigration reform but I don't work for the speech police.

I just find it amusing that someone got their panties in a bunch over an old school word like someone was a racist or bigot for acknowledging something that is true.

Speaking of Glasgow. It's great to see him and they guy from MSU become probably top 3 round draft picks.

I don't root for MSU but I have to give guys like Dantonio and Beilein credit for showing how you can win with less than stellar recruiting classes.

I noticed on Rivals how they were pumping up the whole 5 star guys playing in the NFC championship game as the starting qbs.

It's easy to recognize great talent. but that doesn't validate the entire recruiting ranking college industry.
